Statement on Steve Lieber’s Retirement as President & CEO of HIMSS
ANN ARBOR, MI, December 21, 2016 – HIMSS announced that Steve Lieber, president and CEO of the organization since 2000, will retire at the end of 2017. CHIME President and CEO Russell Branzell issued the following statement:
For the past 16 years, Steve Lieber has been one of health IT’s most important and influential figures. He oversaw HIMSS’ growth into a global enterprise and the expansion of educational programs that now reach tens of thousands of health IT professionals. Steve has been a mentor to many in the industry and he has worked tireless to promote the value of health IT.
Together, CHIME and HIMSS have worked to spread best practices across the industry and improve understanding of how IT can transform care delivery. We are excited about a new partnership with HIMSS that will further expand educational opportunities to health IT leaders internationally.
On behalf of CHIME and our 2,000-plus members, I’d like to thank Steve for his tremendous service to the industry and for helping to push us towards a more innovative, efficient and effective healthcare system. We look forward to working with Steve and the HIMSS leadership as they transition to a new president and CEO in 2017.
