Statement from Flex-IT Coalition on CMS Announcement of a 90-Day Meaningful Use Reporting Period:
“The members of the Flex-IT Coalition commend CMS for the announcement made this morning, which will allow more providers to engage in the meaningful use program and adapt new technologies. It is clear that our concerns have been heard and action is underway. We look forward to timely rulemaking so that providers have the certainty they need over the coming months. We also wish to acknowledge Representative Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) and Representative Ron Kind (D-WI-03) for their commitment to the Flexibility in Health IT Reporting Act or “Flex-IT Act.” Their leadership raised vital awareness on the immediate need for relief, to ensure hospitals and providers could be successful participants in this important program.
The bipartisanship demonstrated by Reps. Ellmers and Kind speaks to the value of this important program as the nation embarks on a journey of healthcare delivery system reform. We look forward to continuing the dialogue with lawmakers and CMS on how we can ensure momentum towards the goals of the Meaningful Use Program, including improved care coordination and interoperability.”
