Creating Opportunities to Connect Is CHIME’s Secret Sauce
by Brian Sterud, VP Chief Information Officer, Faith Regional Health Services
Opportunities to Connect
If I were a chef – I would say that the opportunities CHIME provides its members to connect with peers and industry colleagues is CHIME’s “secret sauce”. I predict that if you surveyed the members of CHIME and asked them to use one word to describe the value of CHIME, that word would be “networking”. It is certainly one of the top reasons that I’m a member…
CHIME Brings Us All Together
If I have a need, I know I can call any of my CHIME friends and they’ll help me out. These relationships have been developed over years of interactions at coffee breaks, educational sessions, focus groups, or numerous other CHIME activities.
CHIME has the perfect recipe to bring all of us together as friends and colleagues as we all face similar challenges in this demanding and ever changing industry called health IT. Through CHIME events and programs, the perfect platform is created for many different types of member engagement and interaction. The key is to participate, to get engaged, to join one of the dozens of committees that CHIME supports to advance the needs of its members. I participate in several committees and have developed an even broader network of contacts through my involvement.
Sharing the Secret Recipe
I enjoy welcoming new members to the organization and helping them understand all the benefits of being a CHIME member. At the same time, I know I can approach those that have blazed the path ahead for all of us. Without naming names, there are those CHIME members that seem to be “bigger than life” and have always practiced what they preach. These members have always been willing to share a cup of coffee or take a phone call. They set the tone for the rest of us and I hope to, one day, live up to the bar they’ve set. Let’s keep sharing CHIME’s special blend so that other’s can enjoy the benefits of CHIME networking.
