Community: 3 Examples of How CHIME Brings People Together

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) was founded 30 years ago to provide a space where Chief Information Officers and other senior healthcare IT leaders could come together to collaborate, share ideas, and advocate for the effective use of information management to improve healthcare outcomes everywhere.  

CHIME brings people together across organizations and from around the world.  

This unique organization continues to serve its Members and further its mission to operate as a welcoming community where healthcare advancements can be discovered and shared and where community members find purpose, advance their careers, and further healthcare efforts around the globe. We are thrilled to be celebrating 30 years of COMMUNITY. 

CHIME is dedicated to building communities, removing barriers separating organizations, and helping advance healthcare initiatives by providing the space where communication and problem-solving can flourish. 

How CHIME Builds Communities Across Organizations & Around the World 

CHIME brings digital health leaders together in a number of diverse ways. The following are just three examples of the types of communities one can embrace within the CHIME ecosystem.  

1. Educational Opportunities & Membership Community

One of the ways CHIME brings people together is through educational opportunities within our membership community. CHIME provides a space where digital health leaders can connect and bond with each other both on- and off-line, while focused on growing their career, knowledge, and expertise.

For example, CHIME Boot Camps provide a lifelong community where leaders can go for professional support from their peers—outside of their own healthcare organizations. Boot Camp is effective. Plus…it’s a whole lot of fun! The high-quality professional development programs CHIME is known for, such as our signature Boot Camps, bring our Members together for interactive learning, thought leadership, networking, and career advancement. CHME Boot Camps offer accelerated learning of leadership skills needed in healthcare IT, professional networking, and collaborative problem solving of today’s health IT challenges.  

Together, our Members enjoy a wide range of activities, professional development events, and more! 

2. Expanded Network Community 

In addition to the focused, intimate community made up of CHIME Members, CHIME provides cross-pollinated communities with opportunities for Members to engage with other healthcare communities to further healthcare technology solutions, build bridges between service and provider organizations, start and maintain vital conversations in the industry, and expand the networks of our Members to include others in the healthcare field.  

ViVE is the perfect example of an expanded community where CHIME Members can reach a wider audience depending on their interests and needs. These kinds of innovative events allow our Members to connect with others in the healthcare field who they may not normally interact with.  

CHIME recognized the need for continued collaboration across not just healthcare communities, but other industries as well, and will continue to help its Members connect with the wider world while remaining dedicated to meeting the needs of our community. 

3. Community Segment Working Toward a Specific Goal 

In addition to supporting the larger communities, CHIME also places significant emphasis on forming smaller communities, such as creating committees focused on a specific goal or crafting events for aligned segments within our Members and partners. Sometimes, gathering a community into smaller groups can better meet the needs of all.  

For instance, the League of Women is an initiative created to elevate women in health IT. By fashioning this distinct community, we create an engaging and welcoming space for those who have shared ideas, visions, and missions. These kinds of focused community initiatives help shape and impact positive change in the healthcare industry at large. 

We Bring Digital Health Leaders Together to Transform Health and Care 

Building communities, bringing leaders together, facilitating important conversations, and providing learning opportunities is what CHIME is all about.
