We are excited to share the latest news concerning the CHIME Board of Trustees. The Board has selected a stellar lineup of officers for the 2021 Board, effective Jan. 1, 2021. They are Tanya Townsend, SVP and CIO at LCMC Health, as Board chair; David Chou, CIO at Luye Medical Group, as secretary; and Darren Dworkin, CIO and SVP of enterprise information at Cedars-Sinai, as treasurer.
This class will follow our previously announced 2020 Board officer class which includes, John Kravitz, SVP and corporate CIO at Geisinger Health System, as Board chair, Sheree McFarland, Division CIO, West Florida Division at HCA, as secretary and Rusty Yeager, SVP and CIO at Encompass Health, as treasurer. Current Board chair Shafiq Rab, MD, SVP and CIO at Rush University Medical Center, will transition to chair of the CHIME Foundation Board at the end of this year.
The results are in for the 2020 CHIME Board of Trustees election! The high voter turnout shows just what an exceptional slate of candidates we had for openings for three CHIME members and one Foundation firm partner. Thank you all for taking the time to cast your ballots and for caring so deeply about the future of CHIME and our industry.
Starting Jan. 1, 2020, your new board members will be:

Buddy, who was named CIO of the Year in 2017, previously served as chair of the CHIME Board, the CHIME Foundation Board and the CHIME Education Foundation.
Daniel Nigrin is a practicing physician, researcher and CIO with training in medical informatics. He is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a practicing member of the hospital’s Division of Pediatric Endocrinology. He is board certified in pediatric endocrinology and medical informatics, a dual skill set that has helped Boston Children’s Hospital be recognized as a digital leader.
Sarah Richardson is a CHIME CIO Boot Camp faculty member as well as part of the CHIME Media Liaison team. Sarah has more than 20 years of experience as a healthcare leader, and her early career in the hospitality industry shows in her commitment to quality, service, teamwork and relationship building. Ajay Kapare develops and drives strategic industry, business and marketing relationships at ELLKAY and has participated in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT’s Meaningful Use and Health Care Policy meetings in Washington, D.C. His previous positions include head of marketing at CompuGroup Medical US, director of global marketing at Sunquest Information Systems and product manager for Sunquest’s Business Analytics and Radiology solutions.
At the end of this year, we will say goodbye to Board members Marc Chasin, MD, Cletis Earle, Mike Martz and Zane Burke, who will have completed their terms. We appreciate all they have done for CHIME during their time on the board.
We look forward to another great year serving you.
