CHIME Welcomes Ed Czopek as CFO and Tim Stettheimer as VP of Education
5.24.2018 Cletis Earle – Chair, CHIME Board; CIO. Kaleida Health |
CHIME welcomed a new face and an old friend on Monday with the addition of Ed Czopek and Tim Stettheimer to CHIME’s executive team. Ed is CHIME’s first chief financial officer and Tim is leading our educational programs as a vice president.
Imagine being the CFO for an organization that represents CFOs? Ed did exactly that as executive vice president and CFO at the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), a nonprofit association that serves more than 38,000 healthcare finance leaders. Before that, Ed was an associate executive director with the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Ed’s experience working with both the administrative and clinical communities makes him an ideal CFO for CHIME.
Tim has been an inspiration for many of us at CHIME. As a regional CIO for Ascension, he oversaw IT initiatives for the 55 acute care hospitals in the South and Central region of Ascension and also supported Ascension’s Ambulatory Care Organization, the Senior Living Division teams and numerous other programs. Yet he still found time for CHIME and our members. During his 13-year tenure as regional CIO, he served as CHIME Board Chair (2010), CHIME Foundation Board Chair (2011) and the CHIME Education Foundation Board Chair (2013-2014). He also has been a Healthcare CIO Boot Camp faculty member for more than a dozen years and is a frequent luminary at Leadership Academies.
Both Ed and Tim bring a wealth of wisdom to CHIME. Ed is a champion of financial transparency in organizations and helping everyone understand the financial ramifications of their decisions. At HFMA, he was part of the teams that implemented a balanced score card that helped to increase operational effectiveness and profitability, eliminate the use of investment income to fund normal operations, and improve employee satisfaction. He is also a tech-forward thinker who supports innovation. For instance, he played a key role at HFMA in the development and sale of a Software as a Service product to benchmark revenue cycle performance, and helped develop and initiate an insurance program for oral surgeons that quickly became the profession’s top liability insurance provider. Ed believes his greatest accomplishment has been the relationships he has built with volunteers and staff over the years.
Tim exemplifies CHIME’s vision of senior healthcare IT professionals who transform healthcare by leading their staff and executive teams to success. Tim contributed as a Mission and Leadership Executive for Ascension Information Services and led several projects to improve the patient experience, save costs and facilitate innovation. As anyone who has witnessed Tim in his faculty role knows, he is a dynamic presenter who challenges his audience to think strategically, build a strong and supportive team, and take charge. Tim also is active in CHIME’s international leadership programs.

Please join me in congratulating them as they enter this new phase in their careers. We are thrilled to have them come on board.
