CHIME Opens 2019 Most Wired Survey for Healthcare Organizations
ANN ARBOR, MI, April 4, 2019 – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) launched the 2019 CHIME HealthCare’s Most Wired survey today and will keep the survey open for two months. This is the second year that CHIME has overseen the program, which measures excellence in the use of healthcare IT and honors health organizations that meet Most Wired’s high standards.
“With so many advanced and emerging technologies now available to hospitals and health systems, it is important to track what works best and share that knowledge with the industry,” said Shafiq Rab, MD, chair of the CHIME Board and senior vice president and CIO at Rush University Medical Center. “The survey lets CHIME measure if and how participants use innovation and gives them an unbiased look at how they compare with their peers.”
Most Wired is designed to capture best practices in the use of healthcare IT through a survey that is updated annually. Annual revisions ensure that the survey accurately reflects current use of technology. The survey and recognition program are overseen by a Governing Board with no active CIOs as members to avoid any perceived conflicts of interest or bias. Like the survey, the threshold for earning a Most Wired title is reviewed and recalibrated each year.
Each participating organization will receive a benchmarking report that highlights strengths and gaps. In addition, CHIME will publish a publicly available industry trends report based on Most Wired data. CHIME will announce the names of participating healthcare organizations that meet or surpass the threshold and will hold a recognition event at the CHIME Fall CIO Forum, which is scheduled for Nov. 3-6 in Phoenix.
“Healthcare organizations that participate in Most Wired show they are committed to quality care,” said Russell Branzell, president and CEO of CHIME. “The recognition is well deserved, but for many the real honor is knowing they are making a difference in patients’ lives, and the lives of their families.”
This year CHIME will offer surveys to three groups of participants: hospitals and health systems in the U.S.; hospitals and health systems outside the U.S.; and ambulatory/outpatient health organizations. CHIME will stagger the release and closing of the three surveys, with the domestic survey opening today, followed by international, and then ambulatory/outpatient.
In 2018, 647 surveys representing 2,190 hospitals in nine countries were submitted, with 254 participants being named Most Wired. A list of the 2018 recipients, the 2018 Industry Trends Report and more information about the CHIME HealthCare’s Most Wired program are available here.
