Statement on 2016 Election and Continuing Advancement of Health IT Policies
ANN ARBOR, MI, November 9, 2016 – Statement by CHIME President and CEO Russell Branzell on the 2016 election:
As the nation moves past a divisive election season, we must continue working together build a better healthcare delivery system. The federal government and providers have invested billions of dollars and countless hours to deploy complex information systems and digitize healthcare. We’ve reached a stage where we are seeing the fruits of that labor; health IT is pushing us toward better, safer, more efficient care.
At the same time, we face some immense challenges. Cybersecurity threats are proliferating and becoming harder to detect. Additionally, we still confront a disjointed infrastructure that limits our ability to adequately exchange patient information.
We look forward to working with the new Congress and administration in a bipartisan way to continue advancing sensible health IT policies.
